I agree 100% with what Tracy Faber (A- Block) had to say.  At the begging of the story I viewed Jim as a immature young boy.  But as the Story progresses I see Jim Becoming a man.  He is studying and working hard to receive an education at a university.  Jim also helps Lena out in her time of need.  He supports her as she feels homesick.  Jim has developed into a good man.
